This is a photo of my mate Bruce after a heavy session at the same spot as below (photo of Steve Davies). One misjudgement getting out of the water and he got himself dragged up the pebble beach by his face. Slight concussion for my man. This photo is on my fridge for all my visitors to see! I call it "Snake Toungue". Brucie's a Ripper!

the last week of november. We all got our asses kicked out there that day, but this shot of Steve Davies pretty much summed things up.
The surf was huge, the river swollen, and despite being warned against going out by everyone who came in we suited up. Steve was out first, and he was sucked out to the middle of the bay and paddled his guts out for over an hour non-stop trying to get back in. I managed to stay in the back eddie for a bit, but finally got massacred and dragged myself back to the beach. Steve, though, was still out and we were getting a bit worried about, but he finally managed to get his butt back to the shore and the Death Break of solid rocks and logs that relentlessly hammered up as a final wall.
He tried timing it right, and almost had it, but while he ran up the beach his feet got sucked out from under him and he bailed. My bro Dave Ashurst snapped this shot of him trying to pick up the pieces and get in before the double overhead stone wave took him out. He didn't make it, and got hammered back to sea. That re-doubled his efforts and the next chance he got he nearly leapt straight up to the beach.

This was Christmas day 2002.The wind was blowing and the turkey was in the oven.What a way to get an appetite.Don't come here expecting to find any surf unless the winds are happening right which isn't to often.
